Happy Mother's Day!!!

Mother's Day was a really great day.  Dave gave me an eternity necklace that I love.  And then we got ready for Church.  Carter was in his first Primary Program at church and Dave surprised me with a corsage.  All the men had ordered them a few weeks earlier and then the young women passed them out to all the moms.  After sacrament all the mothers got a beautiful flower for their yard.  After church we went out to my moms house to have a BBQ.  While out there Dave had the kids give me their gift to me which was two beautiful hanging baskets.
Macie was my big helper in opening my Mother's Day gift from my mom and dad.

I loved this picture of Great-Grandma Horkley.  She is the best.  It is so fun to have her at the family gatherings.
Carter's new thing is to pose for pictures.  It is hilarious!
Sweet Baby Girl!
Carter and Macie were so proud to give me these flowers.  I love them so much.  What a fun Mother's Day!

Trip to Ohio!

My mom and I took a trip to Granville, Ohio last week to help a friend of my moms move out there.  My mom has been the caregiver for a friend of hers for the past year and her family decided that they wanted to have her move out there to be closer to them.  She is completely immobile so my mom and I flew out to Ohio with her.  The trip out there was really good.  Lisa (my moms friend) did really well on the plane and we were able to get her settled in her new home.  Lisa's sisters were both there to meet us at the airport and they drove us back to Lisa's new home.  We stayed for the entire week and my mom and I were able to do a few tourist things while Lisa and her sisters spent some time together.  The first day we were there we went to Mansfield, Ohio and saw the Ohio State Reformatory.  It was really interesting.  The movie Shawshank Redemption was filmed there.  That took a couple of hours to take the tour and then we had to drive back to Granville which was about an hour and a half away.  We spent that evening with Lisa and then we stayed the night at Kim's house.  Kim lived a couple of minutes away from Lisa in a beautiful house.  My mom and I had our own loft in the house with our own room and bathroom.  The next day Mom and I went to Amish Country.  My mom was excited to see the Amish.  We drove for a couple of hours to get there and then we were able to eat at an Amish restaurant and we went shopping in some Amish stores.  My mom found a beautiful quilt that she fell in love with the cost was $1175.00!!!  She almost bought it too until she found a smaller one that she really liked and thought it was better not to spend that much money.  We saw a lot of horse and buggies and we also saw farmers working in their fields using old tools and horses to pull them.  We saw a lot of Amish Ladies walking along the road and riding their bikes.  After that we headed back to Lisa's home and then back to Kim's again.  We got a few souvenirs while we were in Ohio and a lot of pictures.  The next day we headed home.  Our last stop on the way to the airport was to the Longaberger Basket Company.  The office building was in the shape of a basket.  It was the most incredible sight.  The entire trip was really fun, but I sure missed my hubby and kids.  The best thing was the night that we flew in Dave and the kids met me at the airport and the kids came running up to me with lots of hugs and kisses.
One of the cells in the Ohio State Reformatory.  They were so little.
Very small living space!!!
My mom found a cell just for her.  She loves gold.
The electric chair.  This was a replica of the original one that they used.
The Reformatory was huge.  This is only half of the building.
On our way to the Amish Country we past a couple of things.  One of the things was this bridge.  It is Ohio's Longest Covered Bridge.  The only thing that can through it are horse and buggies and people walking.  It was called the Bridge of Dreams.
On our way to Amish Country we got behind a horse and buggy.  It was really fun to see it.
After my mom and I went to some stores and she bought her quilt we found this buggy sitting outside so we stood in front of it and took out picture.  We could have taken rides but we didn't have enough time.
Yes, that is us standing in front of this huge basket.  That is how big it was.  It was so neat to see.

Kite Flying!

Dave had a Saturday off a couple of weekends ago and so we decided to spend the day together.  Idaho Falls has a kite flying day each year and this year we were able to go and fly kites and have lunch.  The weather couldn't have been better.  The wind was blowing but it was sunny and warm.

Catching UP!!!

Thursday April 22, 2010
I feel like I have been gone forever. Here is a lot of things that have happened since my last post. Spring is finally here and I was feeling like I needed to go somewhere with the kids so I decided to take the kids to Utah to see Aunt Sherri, Cole, Saylee, and Madi. Grandma Jan was going to Utah already on the same day so we hitched a ride. The kids were so excited to be going. When we got down there we decided it would be fun to take the kids to see the Aquarium. Carter was so excited to see the sharks.
Macie and Madi excited to see each other.  They are so cute together.
Grandma Jan and the Grandkids at the Aquarium.
Carter was riding on this big frog.  He loved it.
I was surprised that Macie wanted her picture taken on the big frog.  She is usually so scared of things like this.
They all found Nemo!!!
What a fun vacation!
What a big Octopus!
Carter was so brave.  He touched the Stingray.  He loved it.  He was able to touch it a bunch of times.  And then the Stingray started coming up to where he was and he would wave at Carter and the other kids.
Macie was not about to put her hand in that water but she loved to watch them swim by her.
What a fun group.  I really enjoy going to see Sherri and her kids.
Peek-A-Boo
Best Friends!
What a loving brother.  He helped her get up to the front so that she could see the sharks and then he put his arm around her so that she wouldn't get pushed out of the way.  I love seeing the two of them together like this.  They love each other so much.
Carter's favorite thing to see was the sharks.  He was so excited when we finally got to the shark tank.  I love the expression on his face.  He even had to wear his shark shirt that day.
The last thing that we say was the penguins.  The kids had fun watching them swim around.  The whole day was great fun.

Good News and LOTS of Spring Fun!!!!

Well the news came back from Carter's Biopsy and everything turned out really good.
Carter has had to start sharing his bed because Macie refuses to sleep in her LITTLE bed.  I guess it is time to get her a big girl bed.
Popcorn and a movie.
Spring is finally here.  Macie looked so cute in this picture.  She is wearing a sweater that I used to wear at my Grandma Horkley's house.  What a fun thing to see her in it.
Carter is doing so good with his foot.  It is healing so fast.  It was such a nice day that he had to get outside with his scooter.
We went to CAL Store to see the baby chicks.  The kids loved it.
What a sweet boy!
One of the sales ladies saw Carter and Macie looking at all the chicks and asked if he would like to pet one.  He was a little nervous at first but he loved it.  Macie on the other hand wouldn't have anything to do with the lady or touching one.
Macie loved just looking at them.
New Sunday clothes.  The kids got these for Easter.  We are getting pictures done soon.
My Little Princess!!!
For school the Monday before Earth Day we took the kids for a nature walk and then we let them plant some seeds.  They loved it.  Carter has had so much fun with all of his friends this year.
Macie got right in there and was helping all the big kids stir the dirt and water.
Good Job Carter!!!
Macie is so grown up.  Where has my baby gone?
Carter getting his seeds to plant.  What a fun day.

Field Trip to the Fire Station

Monday, March 23, 2010
We went to the Fire Station for school.  The kids were really excited at first to go and see the fire trucks and the Firemen but once we got there they were all really nervous and scared of all the big stuff.  We had a great tour guide.  He took us through the entire fire house and then we got to go and see the fire trucks.  After he let all the kids see the fire trucks he put on all of his fire gear.  The kids were wide eyed as The fireman turned into a fully dressed firefighter.  They were a little nervous to get close to him but we managed to get all of their pictures taken with the fireman.
Pre-School Field Trip to the Fire Station
Carter checking out the truck
Macie wouldn't get into the truck but I was able to hold her up and have her peek inside.
Sydnee and Macie were having a hard time not being afraid so Carter was right there making sure that they were happy and taken care of.
Carter was very interested in what the fireman was doing
Carter was able to hold the hat and see how heavy it was.
Macie was not happy about having her picture taken by the fireman but I think it turned out great.
Carter and all of his school friends
I love this picture.  He is such a handsome boy.
Carter was so interested in the fireman and everything that was going on.  He still talks about it and every time he hears a fire truck he says that the firemen are going to save someones house.
